This blog was born thinking of English speakers who want to dive into the Spanish language and those who are related to the Hispanic culture in the United States, but need help communicating.
As a Kindergarten teacher, I see English learners struggling with a foreign language that they need to use to read and write, but they have five years of English disadvantage when getting to school. As a Spanish tutor, I see students struggling with their Spanish learning process at different levels. They, as well, struggle with a language that escapes them.
The solution? I don't have one for all, but exposure es key. A conversation, a song, a poem, a short reading, immersion. And that is what this blog is about: exposure. Don't be shy. Ask questions, and answer others' comments. Learn what native speakers say and how; copy and repeat them. It doesn't hurt.
Learn our subjunctive through Juanes and his "A Dios le pido", or through Juan Luis Guerra and his "Ojalá que llueva café". Those refrains are worth a month of subjunctive through Grammar. Let's try!
